The purpose

Water that becomes part of daily life.

The goal is not a decorative feature viewed from a window. It is a living place for swimming, observing, gathering, and learning through Utah’s changing seasons.

The project tests how biological filtration, plant systems, koi, circulation, stone, and human use can support one another.

01

Design the ecosystem

Balance swimming, habitat, circulation, filtration, planting zones, safety, and views.

02

Document the build

Record the layers, systems, field changes, mistakes, and construction decisions.

03

Watch it mature

Track water clarity, plant establishment, fish health, seasons, and maintenance.

04

Share the lessons

Explain what worked, what changed, and what should be done differently next time.
